Cristiano Ronaldo Interview

Interview with Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo: "Messi is better than me thanks to his team." "I will stay at the top even if we win nothing. A wasted year? I'll tell you after the World Cup".

Many say that Messi is the best in football, is it true?
"Maybe yes. But honestly all Barcelona are playing fantastically. They won the last 5 or 6 titles, they lead the Liga. Messi was great last year, he is now, but the team is helping him. And now he knows his teammates better."

Before Messi there was Ronaldo, when will he return to his best?
"I think I'm always at a high level. If Madrid is unlikely to win anything it does not mean that I am not playing well (yesterday he scored against Valencia: the Merengues won 2-0 and are a point from Barcelona). Every day I work to improve myself. I think that Real can succeed in the league, then there's the World Cup. It's my first year in Madrid, as a group we can give more, but as an individual I'm not complaining."

Perhaps it is more difficult to win the Liga with Real than the Premier League with Manchester...
"They are two different things, especially this year in Spain the competition is very high. Barcelona is very strong, but we are fighting, we believe in ourselves.

2010 with "zero titles' is the worst year of your career?
"Yes, because if you do not win anything it means you have lost a year. But nothing is decided, I’ll answer this question after the World Cup".

Will Mourinho be the next coach of Real?
"Ah, everyone is talking about this. There are many names. I know Mourinho very well, and I can say he is a fantastic coach. Now Pellegrini is my coach, and I'm happy".

Kaka seems the ghost of himself: can you explain?
He had problems, injuries. But I'm sure at the World Cup he will be one of the best".

And Portugal? There is less than two months to the tournament.
"We did not give our best in the qualifications, the period of preparation before the first game will be crucial. We will do good things".

In your group there is Kaka’s Brazil: are you worried?

"I do not think about Brazil much, it is only the third game. If we win the first two we'll get there relaxed".
The first World Cup in Africa, where many talents are born and often not noticed. You have been able to overcome many difficulties, now what advice can you give?
"The African teams are very strong, very physical. To the young African players I would say that anything is possible if you try very hard. From an early age my dream was to become a professional footballer, I did it and now I can say: never give up. Opportunities come to all, we must know how to grasp them. "

Lets talk about the Champions League: who will go in the final between Inter and Barcelona?
"It will be a tough match between two teams that are playing well. The best will win. I expect Mourinho to use the best tactic to beat Barca. "

And between Bayern and Lyon?
"Bayern is strong, but I bet on the French."

Dribbling, shooting, speed, what makes you so special?
"I was born this way. But if you have quality and do not train every day you will go nowhere".

Did your life change more playing with Manchester or becoming the highest paid footballer in the world with Madrid?
"My life changed more when I went to Manchester. But sometimes it is not easy to be part of a team considered the world's strongest, Real. I am happy to be here, I believe in Real. Manchester is a great team, but now I want to win at Real as much as I won in England".

Someone wrote that Real wants Rooney. Would you like to play next to him and Vidic again?
'Maybe, you never know. But I think Rooney is happy to stay at Manchester and has no desire to change. He is a friend. But I'm fine with the teammates I have".

How does Ronaldo react to defeat?
"With frustration. Sometimes I do not even speak with my mother or sisters".

Have you ever cried after a defeat?
"Yes, it has happened."

Messi said to merit eternal glory he needs to win something with Argentina,do you agree?
"Yes. Big champions are seen in major tournaments, in matches that count. I too have not yet won anything for Portugal. We will see in the World Cup. In any case I wish Messi and Argentina the best".

If, as in the match of Euro 2006 with England, you can indirectly contribute to the expulsion of a fellow teammate, what would you do?
"I would act the same way. I did nothing wrong then (referring to the expulsion of Rooney), and when I defend the colours of Portugal I feel at ease with myself. I would do the same thing again ."

Cristiano Ronaldo: Messi is better but...

Messi vs Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo "conceded" defeat in the Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo debate that has been making noise all over the planet since both players emerged as two of the world's most influential football stars. Cristiano Ronaldo declared Barcelona's Lionel Messi as the man of the moment but this doesn't mean that he put himself out of the picture.

According to the Real Madrid playmaker, Lionel Messi is certainly a talented player but it would be wrong to pour all praises on him only. In an interview on Monday afternoon, the Portuguese superstar finally touched this delicate issue. He told Italian newspaper La Stampa :

"Maybe, yes," when asked if Lionel Messi was the best player on the planet. However, he was quick to make his point as he added:

"But honestly, Barcelona have also been playing very well too. They've won the last five or six trophies and they top La Liga at the moment."

"Yes, Messi was great last season and he is great this year too. But the team [Barcelona] are helping him. And also now, he knows his teammates better," Ronaldo explained referring to the fact that his Real Madrid side was yet to gel completely with all the new players in the squad.

Cristiano Ronaldo then spoke about Los Blancos as the season is heading towards its end. The former Manchester United ace who won a series of individual and collective titles during his time with the Red Devils is presently in danger of ending his first season in Madrid cupless. For a majority of the public, Real Madrid's fate will explain a lot about Cristiano Ronaldo's level of performance in Spain. Whereas many blame his decision to leave England and others simply conclude that Lionel Messi's influence is the difference in Ronaldo's unfruitful year in Spain, the player himself has other ideas.

"I think I'm always at a high level and if Real Madrid end without a trophy, it won't mean that I am playing badly. I'm always working hard every day in order to improve. I think that Real Madrid can do it in La Liga. It's my first year here and we can give more as a group. But I can't complain individually."

Cristiano Ronaldo's interview in La Stampa and his comments about Lionel Messi benefiting from Barcelona's wonderful form to become the world's best player has provoked more insults from Anti-Ronaldo supporters. Is there any truth in Cristiano Ronaldo's belief concerning Messi? Is there any feeling of jealousy from the former FIFA Player of the Year?

Ronaldo would like to see Capello as Real Madrid's new coach

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted he would love to see England coach Fabio Capello return to the Spanish capital for a third coaching stint.

However, the former Manchester United winger has also confessed that he doesn’t expect former team-mate Wayne Rooney to be playing alongside him next season.

"I am still friends with Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at Manchester United," Ronaldo told
the News of the World.

"I think Rooney is very happy in Manchester and even if Real Madrid tried to sign him, I don't think he would want to join me here."
But when asked if he would like to play under the Three Lions chief, Ronaldo declared: "Definitely.

"He is a very important coach, one of the best in the world, he has done a fantastic job in England and has won many titles in Italy so why not? You never know."

Having endured a largely unsuccessful season under current coach Manuel Pellegrini, it is expected that the Chilean chief will be shown the exit door this summer.

Early elimination from both the Champions League and the Spanish Cup, while playing catch-up to rivals Barcelona in the league has been deemed unacceptable.

Having already had two stints in charge at the Bernabeu, winning La Liga on both occasions, speculation of Capello’s return will be sure to put the FA on alert after this summer’s World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo & Wayne Rooney exchange

REAL MADRID are ready to use Cristiano Ronaldo to lure Wayne Rooney to the Bernabeu.

SunSport had revealed yesterday how the Spanish giants have indentified the Manchester United striker as their No 1 target this summer and are ready to throw £150million at landing him.

Now they want to use his old United team-mate Ronaldo to help sell the club to his good friend.

Ronaldo joined Real last summer in a world record £80m move from United.

He has had a successful first season although the club are set to end up empty-handed.

Ronaldo knows Rooney could provide the spark needed to triumph domestically and in Europe.

They enjoyed a partnership which brought rich spoils to United including a League and European Cup double in 2008.

Real believe Ronaldo could help tempt Rooney to switch.

The Spanish giants will bid a world record £90m for the United striker while offering him a five-year deal worth £60m.

The £250,000-a-week deal matches the wages of Ronaldo at the Bernabeu.

Real have decided to make a move after going out of Europe in the first knockout round and now look set to miss out on La Liga title to Barcelona.

Ronaldo believes to championship

Cristiano Ronaldo insists that the title is far from over - after all there are 7 games left to play! The online betting puts Barca as clear favourites though.

Ronaldo was philosophical after the defeat to Barcelona. "It's always better to win. We lost, but we still have another seven games to play and we must continue to fight because everything is possible.

"We knew it was very important for us to win tonight, but that's football for you. The team to score the first goal was going to win. We are to blame for their first strike. Barcelona took advantage of a mistake."

Zidane : "Ribery was born to play for Real Madrid"

In the second part of a three-part interview with Marca, Real Madrid's Zinedine Zidane has commented on a variety of issues, including Kaka, Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery, and Raul.

Zizou first analysed Kaka's situation, believing that the Brazilian will be a great success in the Spanish capital, declaring: "I do not have any doubt about Kaka."

Reportedly one of the most important links tying Bayern Munich superstar Franck Ribery to a potential move to Los Blancos, Zidane made it clear where he believes the Frenchman should seek employment. "Ribery was born to play at Real Madrid," said the French legend about his compatriot. As for Benzema, who is having some difficulty adjusting to La Liga, Zidane praised the striker: "He has talent, but he needs do what Madrid demands of him."

As for Raul, Zidane praised his former team-mate. "Raul is an example. His attitude is phenomenal."

Finally, Zidane's was asked to comment on Manuel Pellegrini's job as Madrid coach. "Personally, I do not know him very well. But I would maintain him as coach," said the Frenchman.

Raul to Liverpool?????

Struggling Premier League giants Liverpool are apparently interested in signing Real Madrid striker Raul in the summer.

The Mirror is reporting that Rafael Benitez is pulling out all the stops to persuade the veteran Madrid hitman to depart from sunny Madrid to sign with the Reds, where he will form a partnership with Spain's current in-form striker Fernando Torres. The Daily Mail has chipped in saying that Liverpool will extend a two-year deal to Raul.

Raul has been rumoured to be interested in a move to play in the Premier League, after being dropped from the first team at the Bernabeu this season. Speculation has been rife that the former Spain international is ready to leave Spain in order to play first-team football.

The 32-year-old has long been linked to a transfer to the MLS, particularly to the New York Red Bulls, following a season where he has just started eight games in La Liga so far, with a paltry four goals to his name. Raul has, however, played in seven Champions League matches this season and scored twice in those games.

Marcelo: I Was Not Interested In Watching Barcelona

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo spoke in a post-training press conference today, commenting that he had not watched Barcelona's Champions League match last night.

"I did not watch Barca's match yesterday. I don't know how they played and it doesn't interest me. What interests me now is our match against Racing Santander," said the Brazilian in comments reported by AS.

When asked about Madrid's chances of breaking the legue's 107-goal scoring record, Marcelo affirmed that the record could serve as an extra motivation for his side. As for team-mate Kaka's physical condition, Marcelo confirmed that the Brazilian midfielder is "much better", but admitted: "I don't know if he will be able to play against Barcelona."

Silva would reject Premier League for Real Madrid

David Silva has made a move to Real Madrid his number one choice if he leaves Valencia.

The Spanish international has long been a target for Liverpool and Manchester United, and it looks as though he could finally be on the move in the summer.

But whereas both Premier League giants could register an interest in the midfielder, it appears as though a stay in Spain’s La Liga is the more likely outcome.

AS claim Silva has emerged as a top target for Real, who are planning on shipping out Guti, Lassana Diarra and possibly Fernando Gago in the summer.

And the 24-year-old has reportedly set his sights on a move to the Bernabeu should be leave the Mestalla club, who would want around £20million for his signature.
