Champions League Draws

Real Madrid will face AC Milan, Olympique Marseille and FC Zurich in Group C of the 2009/10 Champions League.

AC Milan
Real Madrid and Milan have won a total of 16 European Cups (9 and 7, respectively), making them the two most-heralded teams in Europe.

The pairing will be a special occasion for Kaka, who will play against a side he called home for the last six years. Former Madridistas Clarence Seedorf and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will also have a chance to face their former side. The former played for Real Madrid four seasons and won one European Cup.

The last time the two teams met at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium was on 12 March 2003, when the Madridistas won 3-1 in the second stage of the Champions League.

Olympique Marseille
A classic French side, Marseille are currently coached by Didier Deschamps. They were runners up in the French league last season and, with the help of former Madridistas Fernando Morientes and Gabriel Heinze, they will try to win their first title since 1992 this campaign. Throughout its 110-year history, the club has won eight league titles, ten Cups of France, one Intertoto Cup and one European Cup (in 1993 against Milan). This is the third straight year for Marseille in the Champions League.

FC Zurich
Zurich had their best years during the 1960s and 1970s and regularly played in European championships. They faced Real Madrid for the first and only time in 1964 in the semis of the European Cup, but failed to defeat them. Zurich won the Swiss Super League last year by defeating eternal foe Grassoers 2-0 in the final week of the championship.
