Zinedine Zidane : Cristiano Ronaldo Has More Star Quality Than David Beckham

Zinedine Zidane believes that Cristiano Ronaldo was always destined to play for Real Madrid and that the Portuguese is now the biggest star in world football.

The French legend is delighted that the former Manchester United forward completed a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer for a record breaking €94 million.

Having been part of the Galactico era at Madrid, Zidane is well placed to judge, and he thinks that Ronaldo is even bigger than David Beckham.

“Cristiano Ronaldo was destined to end up at Real Madrid - he is the perfect player for this club," he was quoted as saying by Sport.

“He has star quality like no other in the football world right now – not even my good friend David Beckham can compete with him anymore.”

Zidane is back at Real Madrid in an ambassadorial role and is pleased with his position at the club.

“Ever since I ended my career I hoped I could return to Real Madrid in some capacity. The club has played a huge part in my life," he continued.

“Don Florentino Perez contacted me about being an advisor on sporting matters – that was a dream role for me because I know football and I know a lot of people.”

Kaka 'wants to play at Real, says Beckham'

Brazilian midfielder Kaka, who rejected a record-breaking transfer from Manchester City, wants to play at Real Madrid next season, his AC Milan teammate David Beckham was quoted as saying Tuesday.

"Kaka wants to go to Real Madrid and not to City. I think he will become a Real player in June. I think someone has called him and that Kaka has made his decision," the former England captain told a friend recently, according to Spanish sports daily AS.

The paper said last week Kaka asked Beckham, who played for Real between 2003 and 2007, for information about the defending Spanish giants, the paper added.

Former Real president Ramon Calderon, who stepped down on Friday over allegations that he rigged voting at the club's last annual general assembly, promised to sign Kaka during his successful campaign to lead the club.

Real remains interested in signing the 26-year-old, according to AS.

"This is the best moment to recruit Kaka, he is the player who would benefit the team the most," an unnamed Real source told the newspaper.

Italian prime minister and AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi said late Monday that Kaka had decided to stay with the Italian side, having rejected a bid from City that was said to be of 100 million pounds (111 million euros/147 million US dollars).

Kaka is under contract with Milan through 2013.

Beckham wants Madrid role

David Beckham has admitted that he could be tempted back to the Bernabeu with a role coaching Real Madrid’s youth team players, but reiterated his decision to stay away from club management. The ex-Real Madrid superstar speaks fondly of his time at the Bernabeu, where he is held in high regard by the club’s fans. After leaving the club for the Hollywood Hills last summer, it was widely expected that Beckham would sever ties with Spain and concentrate on his academies all over the world. However, the 33-year-old revealed to Marca that he is considering the possibility of making a return to his Spanish base, where he foresees working alongside the Madrid under-age sides. He said: "I would like to return to Spain some day and to Real Madrid. To work with the kids or something similar at Madrid would be an honour for me. "Everybody knows that I love to work with kids and that I adore Spain. I still have my house in Madrid and if I return some day I already have somewhere to live. "When the moment comes we will have to see, but to be part of Madrid would be great. I have many friends there and many people who I respect a lot, such as (former president) Florentino Perez, who is one of the best friends I have in Madrid." Beckham has a number of off-field interests, including a range of football schools across the world and extensive work with UNICEF. His extra-curricular commitments would rule him out of a coaching role at the game’s top level. Although part of the Manchester United side that produced coaches like Steve Bruce, Mark Hughes, Paul Ince, Roy Keane and Henning Berg, Beckham insists that he has little interest in following the Alex Ferguson path. He continued: "I have my academy of football here in Los Angeles, but I will never be a coach. I don't have this passion, I prefer to be with my academy and work with the children, with UNICEF...and things like this where you can help people. "I love football and I will always continue being involved in it, but I don't want to be working on the sidelines or anything like that."
