It was thought that Real Madrid had dropped out of the race to sign Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant with the likes of Milan, Sevilla and Portsmouth heading the queue for his signature. However, according to a report in British tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror, Los Merengues have rekindled their interest in the 26-year-old former England under-21 international.Apparently, Los Blancos want the former Arsenal and Birmingham City wide-man to arrive at the Bernabeu on loan for the remainder of the season. They are attempting to broker a deal without spending much money as reports suggest that they are firm in the belief that they will sign Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer and are, therefore, saving funds for that moment."Everyone at the club sees Ronaldo as a done deal for next season," a Real Madrid insider is quoted as saying.Whether Liverpool will allow Pennant to go to the Spanish Champions on loan is questionable and the player himself may favour a move to a club where he is more likely to play regular first-team football.
